They’re posting stories about horrible black on white crimes and asking why there isn’t any public outcry about it. Talk about low.. I mean for starters, each of the criminals that were mentioned in each story was already arrested and serving time in prison where they obviously belong. What about Zimmerman? Oh, he’s still free you say? Well, jeez.. maybe that’s why people are so pissed.
From Media Matters:
Why we wrote The Fox Effect
~~~~~
Two years ago, Media Matters recognized Fox News had become something entirely new. The network never lived up to its “fair and balanced” mantra, and bias was no longer its primary defect. Instead, without much notice, it had become something entirely new — a news organization acting as a proxy for a political party.
We set out not only to document this trend, but expose it. In the course of our research, Media Matters uncovered internal network memos, unheard speeches by a “news” executive, and even previously unpublished letters from the head of Fox News, Roger Ailes.
The result of our efforts is a new book called The Fox Effect – and I’m proud to say it’s in stores today.
I’m often asked, “Why does Fox News matter? The only people who pay attention to them are militant conservatives.”
However, the network’s impact is far broader. The Fox Effect ushered in the current era of post-truth politics. The facts no longer matter; only what is politically expedient, sensationalistic, and designed to confirm the pre-existing opinions of a large audience matters to Fox.
Media Matters Vice President Ari Rabin-Havt, myself, and the entire team at Media Matters spent the past two years working on The Fox Effect because we felt telling this story and exposing Fox for what it is — a megaphone for a political party — is crucial if we want to correct the current dysfunction in our political system.
Today, the product of our efforts is on sale.
Peachsss approved reading. I may put my current book on hold for this one.
Recently, Fox News has been blaming Obama for high gas prices…
Well, watch Fox News, back in 2008, explaining why the President (then President Bush) doesn’t have control over the gas prices
“No president has the power to increase or to lower gas prices!”
“The next time you hear a politician say he or she will bring down oil prices, understand it’s COMPLETE BS!” -Bill O’Reilly
Yes, Bill. It is complete BS… Too bad it’s a big part of the platform that republicans are running on this year.
It’s almost as laughable as accusing Fox News as, you know, being news.
Seems unbiased enough.
Fair and Balanced.
A Likely Nuclear World War was avoided because the President took time to negotiate instead of taking the advice of generals and invading Cuba. Kennedy was banking that Khrushchev(Who was also under pressure to attack) didn’t have the stomach for war. This is a fictitious rendition of what Fox news would have reported (judging by what we see these days).
Steve Jobs told Rupert Murdoch that Fox News was a “destructive force in our society,” according to the blockbuster biography of the late Apple CEO.
Poynter was the first to uncover Jobs’ blunt words about the network in Walter Isaacson’s new book.
Strangely enough, Fox news did not run this story but instead chose to focus on Jobs’ rivalry with Bill Gates.
Conservative columnist David Frum, who was speechwriter for former President George W. Bush, blasted Fox News on Sunday for creating an “alternative knowledge system.”
“These media institutions, they started as political projects. They started as ways to offer an alternative point of view on current events. They have become an important industry and so they see the conservative world not as a set of ideas, but as a demographic and the way you appeal to a demographic is working by conflict.”
“People watch a lot of Fox, come away knowing a lot less.”
Chris Dodd and the MPAA are complaining that politicians are not corrupt enough
From Techdirt:
Reinforcing the fact that Chris Dodd really does not get what’s happening, and showing just how disgustingly corrupt the MPAA relationship is with politicians, Chris Dodd went on Fox News to explicitly threaten politicians who accept MPAA campaign donations that they’d better pass Hollywood’s favorite legislation… or else:
“Those who count on quote ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay any attention to me when my job is at stake,”In response, a petition was filed on whitehouse.gov to investigate Chris Dodd and the MPAA for bribery.
“HEY! YEAH, YOU! Look at how corrupt I am!!” - Chris Dodd to Fox news viewers that don’t care.
