"10 Rules for Dealing with Police."

Note the people of color in the audience and how they all have dealt with being harassed by cops.

And this why I have no sympathy for the shocked & appalled white kids who just figured out that the cops can and do abuse their power regularly.

I hope none of my wonderful followers need to use these, but reality tells me some of you may have had to already. Anyway, this is a good watch, worth the half hour. Learn these rights and protect yourself.

Above all else, stay safe.

Albany police: SWAT used poor black neighborhood for training because it’s ‘realistic’

iwakeupmad:

“The folks in this neighborhood might not have the financial means, but are entitled to the same respect,” Bryan observed. “Whoever made the decision to do this was asleep at the switch.”

One resident who asked not to be named recalled the ordeal to the Times Union.

“We wake up to the sound the next morning of literally small bombs,” she said. “All you could hear was ‘pop, pop, pop’ of an assault rifle, police screaming ‘clear!’ I really thought I was in the middle of a war zone — and I have a four-year-old.”

Pictured above: Institutionalized racism, blatant disrespect for American citizens and disregard to their safety.

  • Theodore Faron: Julian? I haven't seen you in twenty years. You look good. The picture the police have of you doesn't do you justice.
  • Julian Taylor: What do the police know about justice?

Whistleblowing Wednesday: Local cops use Homeland Security-funded military weapons, including armored cars w/turrets, drones, assault rifles.
North Dakota’s largest city has averaged fewer than two homicides a year since 2005, and there’s not been a single international terrorism prosecution in the last decade.
But that hasn’t stopped authorities in Fargo and its surrounding county from going on an $8 million buying spree to arm police officers with the sort of gear once reserved only for soldiers fighting foreign wars.
Every city squad car is equipped today with a military-style assault rifle, and officers can don Kevlar helmets able to withstand incoming fire from battlefield-grade ammunition. And for that epic confrontation—if it ever occurs—officers can now summon a new $256,643 armored truck, complete with a rotating turret. For now, though, the menacing truck is used mostly for training and appearances at the annual city picnic, where it’s been parked near the children’s bounce house.

You know I can understand why someone would be unnerved over their local police having an MRAP with a turret, but what is the problem with purchasing body armor for police? It doesnt hurt anyone, the only thing it does it protect lives. Get over yourself.

Local Cops Ready For War
“In Montgomery County, Texas, the sheriff’s department owns a $300,000 pilotless surveillance drone, like those used to hunt down al Qaeda terrorists in the remote tribal regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. In Augusta, Maine, with fewer than 20,000 people and where an officer hasn’t died from gunfire in the line of duty in more than 125 years, police bought eight $1,500 tactical vests. Police in Des Moines, Iowa, bought two $180,000 bomb-disarming robots, while an Arizona sheriff is now the proud owner of a surplus Army tank.”  More here.
Feel safer now?

Well I agree that the tank is overkill but you can’t be angry about police having vests. Bullet proof vests are proven effective for saving lives against a wide range of attacks on police and soldiers and over the years they have saved countless lives of people simply doing their jobs. And the EOD robots? Also quite practical, they are harmless to civilians and can save the lives of police who may face unknown explosive threats. Yeah, they are costly but one cannot but a price tag on human lives (not without being a complete douchebag about it like walmart and their peasant insurance).
